Chichi Market & Lake Atitlan

Chichi and Pana | Maya World ToursThe market of Chichicastenango is home to what is undoubtedly the most colorful native market in North and Central America, perhaps in the whole Americas.

Lake Atitlan is considered one of the most beautiful in the world by many including the famous novelist Aldous Huxley. Three spectacular volcanoes, Toliman, Atitlan and San Pedro are the natural setting of the lake. It has an area of 125 square kilometers and 1,560 meters altitude above the sea level.

Important: only Thursday or Sunday are market days. 

Why visit: To check the limits of beauty that human can intake.

Chichi and Atitlan Daily Tour

Itinerary:

6:00 - 6:30 a.m. - You will be picked up at your Hotel in Guatemala City.

7:30 - 8:00 a.m. - Pick up at Antigua Guatemala.

10:30 a.m. - Arrival at Chichicastenango Market where you will enjoy visiting the most colorful and wonderful of the Living Maya Culture. You will able to see how people trade goods, from fruits, vegetables, meat, animals to tools and clothes. It is important to visit the Church of Saint Tomas (Santo Tomas) and appreciate the Maya syncretism with the Catholic Religion. You will have time to shop handicrafts and souvenirs.

11:30 a.m. - Start our road trip to Panajachel, a town on the shores of Lake Atitlan where you will have lunch. Take a look around and if time permits you can get a boat and visit a Maya village in the surroundings.

4:30 p.m. - Return to Antigua Guatemala and Guatemala City.
